Joe Cotterman has over 20 years of corporate restructuring, business bankruptcy, creditor’s rights, commercial litigation, and corporate and real estate transaction experience. He holds an AV® Preeminent™ rating, the highest professional designation awarded by Martindale-Hubbell, the primary professional rating organization for attorneys, and is listed in both Southwest Super Lawyers®, a designation limited to the top 5% of attorneys in the southwestern United States, and Best Lawyers In America®, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession.

Joe graduated from Arizona State University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Studies summa cum laude, receiving the Schmidt Award as the Outstanding Graduate Of The School Of Justice Studies. In 1991, he graduated from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University magna cum laude, where he received the College of Law Alumni Award as the Outstanding 1991 Graduate of the College of Law.  Prior to joining the Andante Law Group, Joe was a partner at Gallagher & Kennedy, one of Phoenix’s largest law firms, practicing there for over 20 years.

Joe regularly represents corporate debtors, creditors, and committees in Chapter 11 cases, and both lenders and borrowers in commercial and real estate foreclosure litigation. He has restructuring experience representing both creditors and debtors in the real estate development, retail, manufacturing, health care, telecommunications, airline and high-tech industries.

Joe is a frequent panelist, speaker and writer for various professional organizations and seminars and has taught numerous continuing legal education courses for attorneys and paralegals on topics including bankruptcy law and procedure, and foreclosure and collection litigation.  He is a volunteer attorney for the St. Vincent DePaul program that offers free legal consultations to indigent clients. He is licensed to practice in the state and federal courts in Arizona, and has appeared in bankruptcy courts in various cases throughout the United States. Joe and his wife, Lynn have been married since 1982 and have three children.  In his free time he is a piano player, target shooter, off-road motorcycle rider, and backpacker.
